About

My name is Albert Lee. I am a So-Cal based, freelance illustrator/digital media creator with over 18 years of experience. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with numerous recognizable brands and organizations including the NFL, the NBA, and McDonald’s.

During my 8 years with the NFL Media Group, I worked extensively on editorial illustrations, social media content, UX/UI development, promotional content for a variety of shows, front end website designs, brand and identity packages, a variety of print materials, traditional and digital paintings, and even worked on 8 portraits for a 600 foot mural located at the NFL HQ in Inglewood, CA.

In March of 2021, I was commissioned to illustrate 9 portraits for a massive 600 foot mural located at the NFL West Coast HQ in Inglewood at SoFi Stadium Park. Among 22 artists, I was asked to illustrate the following influential individuals: Bill Belichick, Bo Jackson, Jerry Rice, Jim Thorpe, Joe Namath, Peyton “The Sheriff” Manning, Terrell Owens, Tom Landry, William “Refrigerator” Perry.

One illustration in particular entitled "The Quest Begins" was a 2017 Webby Honoree (https://winners.webbyawards.com/2018/social/social-content-series-campaigns/sports/44119/the-quest-begins-32-teams-1-goal) and was featured in Adweek the same year: (https://www.adweek.com/digital/twitter-nfl-2017-kickoff/) The Quest Begins is currently featured as the NFL Social Lab's main header image: https://www.nflsociallab.com/.

In March of 2021, Walton Isaacson commissioned me to work on 4 illustrations for the McDonald’s All American Games Foundation. The project entailed 4 custom back board illustrations that would donated to 4 public courts located in underprivileged cities across the USA. The aim of each illustration was to commemorate an iconic player or moment in All-American basketball history that was connected to each of the 4 cities. The backboards are set to be unveiled sometime in the Fall of 2021.

Experience

NFL NETWORK

2015-2021 | Illustrator, Digital Media Creator

As a member of the NFL Digital Media Team, we acted as an in-house Creative Agency that became intimately attuned to distinct and variegated needs of each department across the entire organization. From logos, to establishing brand guidelines, to custom graphics and illustrations for a variety of applications, I was expected to be a jack of all trades. Here are a few key examples of what I was tasked with:

1) Custom Illustrations:
I have illustrated numerous portraits and images for:
- NFL longform articles (Back 2 Campus, Sidelines)
- NFL Social posts including the 2017 Kickoff image entitled "The Quest Begins" which was a 2017 Webby honoree (https://winners.webbyawards.com/2018/social/social-content-series-campaigns/sports/44119/the-quest-begins-32-teams-1-goal) and is currently featured as the NFL Social Lab's main header image (https://www.nflsociallab.com/).

The Quest Begins image was also featured on Adweek (https://www.adweek.com/digital/twitter-nfl-2017-kickoff/)

-Illustrated artwork for Podcasts like Huddle & Flow

2) Season Theme re-branding from 2017-2019. From ideation, to iteration, to the stages of execution, I helped to formulate universal branding guidelines (the use of tight crops, multiple player layouts, typographical rules, vector branding elements, layouts) that were implemented by various departments throughout the organization.

3) Worked closely with our Art Director, Dane Storrusten, during the early pre-visualization phases for the Main Lobby and Great Hall of the new NFL West Coast offices at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood.

4) Conceptualized, developed, and executed many of the Next Gen Stats content packages.

5) Worked on Club Redesigns for the NY Giants, Arizona Cardinals, Denver Broncos, Houston Texans, Washington Redskins home pages.

6) Illustrated 9 portraits for the murals located at the NFL Network Corporate office in Inglewood, CA at SoFi Stadium. (Bill Belichick, Bo Jackson, Jerry Rice, Jim Thorpe, Joe Namath, Peyton “The Sheriff” Manning, Terrell Owens, Tom Landry, William “Refrigerator” Perry.

7) Designed a 13x21 Mural for one of offices located at the NFL Network campus on Washington BLVD in Culver City, CA.
